报告题目：A Quantitative Analysis of Land Subsidy in China

摘要：Land is a common instrument for local government in China to promote economic growth. On the one hand, local government subsidies industrial land to attract firms. On the other hand, the land revenue is used on public investment to improve local productivity. This paper builds and calibrates a spatial model with the two sides above. Quantitative analysis shows that subsidy on industrial land stimulates economic growth significantly and the effect is amplified because the subsidy further increases land revenue and public investment. However, the national welfare declines since the current land subsidy is too high and inefficiently distributed across cities. In addition, the effect of land subsidy is substantially shaped by its interaction with trade and migration.
